On April 21, 2012 the Department of Education released a report that validated most if not all of the compliants against ex Principal Ling Ling Chou. However, there are still parents who refuse to see the writing on the wall. The seven to ten parents protested in front of the school and called the report " a witch hunt" and "racists" continue to make the rest of the Shuang Wen Community look horribly ignorant.
This was not a witch hunt and definitely has nothing to do with race. It is more like an immoral and criminal hunt and it is open season on decietful criminals and their accomplices.
As for as the racist comment, I believe the interim principal Iris Chiu is of Asian descedant, well educated and loves children.

ReplyDeleteI am NOT one of those "10 parents" who "protested" outside the school the other day. I am just another COLORED non-asian parent whose kids go to the school. I have been here for 3 years. I have seen Ms. Ling Ling and I have seen Iris. Its night and day. Ms. Ling Ling DID know every kids name and she loved every single kid. Also, Ms. Ling Ling lead the school. Fought for the school. I have seen nothing from Iris where she truly fights for the school. To me, she doesnt exist. A true leader is one that fights against the rules, makes things happen and gains respect.
ReplyDeleteLets not forget this is a blue ribbon school which recieved the highest overall score of any school in manhattan under the watch of Ms Ling Ling and a student population that is 75% poor.
Maybe Iris is the way she is because she is "interim". I highly doubt it. We will see next year when the Lunar performance doesn’t happen (a fantastic show even watched by people without children in the school) or when the kids can't go to china for their senior trip. These are just some quick things I can think of. Its a shame. I really hope this Blue Ribbon school doesn’t turn into just another school. Hopefully we don’t because it will quickly become one of those "4 schools in one building".

It's unfortunate but Ling Ling Chou was not friendly toward me and actually spoke down to me and she did know my child's name but her mannerisms and speech when she spoke to me and my child was scarastic and demeaning. Everyone has a different experiences and after the treatment Ms Chiu recieved in July I would not blame her she didn't speak to anyone.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, as an adult it shouldn't matter. You should always treat people accordingly. Treating someone different based on their associations and not actions is not mature and most certainly not professional. I understand the wounds are deep but I did nothing to anyone. Most importantly NO ONE welcomed me with open arms so don't make assumations of who I am and what I stand for when I was invisible in the first place. I speak to EVERYONE!!! And hold no hostility or malice. I like everyone else want what I feel is best for my child. But I not at the expense of someone's elses child.
DeleteA leader rises above everything and attempts to bring peace. Of course she walked into hostile territory. But she made no real advances to making this a workable relationship. If anything, she made things worse. Again, I am NOT one of the people who argue or yelled at her. You can say what you want but the facts are the facts. Our school has been terrible under her leadership. Please do not make the DOE investigations or the parents the reason for her lack of leadership. With the exception of a select few who are very vocal, there are many who would work with her. I have seen nothing.
ReplyDeleteIts funny how we can tear down a principal who has basically one of the top schools in the city. And not Manahattan. New York City. I am sure if we investigated every principal in NYC half of them would be in the same boat. All I know is Ms Ling Ling steered this ship to one of the most successful schools in NYC with unbelievable relationships with outside groups to foster its success.
I don't argue with the new principal. Let me see her step up to the plate rather than be a DOE puppet. Maybe I will have some more respect for her. She will get her chance. I would bet she fails to even come close to Ms Ling Ling success. Test scores will be high for sure. It wont be because of her.
I wasn't at the meeting last July, but I hear it was rather brutal and I can see the lack of respect given to her since September and I wonder how much can one woman take. She has done an excellent job given the circumstances and resources given to her.
DeleteAs for being a DOE puppet, the last person Ling Ling didn't follow DOE rules and I believe she is fighting for her job now. Don't confuse knowledge with ignorance.
If you are one of the many lawyers I want you to tell the judge how to rule in a courtroom or if you are an employee someone go to work and tell your boss what to do and if you own your own business start cursing out your clients about their choices.
Moreover, go to Bloomberg's house and tell him to bring your principal otherwise you won't pay taxes and after you have done all that then talk about puppets vs common sense. smh

ReplyDeleteSo set up your own nonprofit charity, meet in places where the public doesnt have to maintain and pay for you to meet, solicit money directly from the public, fill up your bank accounts, and pay for the senior trip to china. No one says it has to be a school trip; Set up your own website and stop being parasite to school, get parents of seniors of shuang wen to enroll in your china trip.

Inaccurate again -- and nasty. Taxpayer dollars were never used to fund the trip to China. The money was raised privately by dedicated volunteers and Ling ling Chou.

DeleteAs for the inaccurate information, that was provided by Ling Ling. The trip was spoke about as if it was a DOE trip and part of the school. In which I am not sure if any DOE teachers went. If it was SWAN facility did the SWAN have the proper insurance and so forth, did the DOE (which be a tax dollars) provided all necessary forms in order to take the children to China. Apparently paperwork wasn't Ling Ling strong suit and here is where the problem lies. They will always be inaccurate information if the person in charge Ling Ling was not sure how to properly administer the activities and differeniate SWAN from Shuang Wen. Shuang Wen is DOE SWAN isn't. We can go on for days.
As for the nasty comments, it is fascinating how if you are a Ling Ling supporter you can call people out their names and have your children swear in front of adult and promote slander but when someone has an opposing comment they have to watch their tongues.
These two groups would make for an interesting sociological study.

DeleteIt was always an Asian studies program. The Lunar New Year celebration was part of the experience. You are so blinded by hatred, you couldn't see its beauty. You hate Chinese people for having a rich, permanent, beautiful culture. You hate them for needing educational child care, while they work unimaginable hours trying to provide for their families. Most of all, you hate them for succeeding in this country. You came to Shuang Wen to suppress Chinese cultural traditions and make the school as empty as your head. I didn't write the comment that you replied to and I see that you are still trying to push the racist angle which one read of the charges disprove. Ms. Chou is guilty of falsifying a Federal Grant, she falsified attendance, she admitted students into the school including a P.T.A. President who lied to investigators but was found out. It is not only criminal what she did with Federal Funds but how she created a phony race war which has divided parents who were "friends" and worse pitted students against each other. All so she can continue lining her pockets with her ill gotten gains. She put her very well off friends into the Specialized High School program which was for under-privliged students while never even informing parents whose children belonged there. I have heard people lost their jobs but the D.O.E. has kept it quiet. Interesting that another parent keeps yelling about how underfunded Shuang Wen was, but neglects to say funding is on the number of children in the school. Shuang Wen only has 600 plus students compared to schools she compares them to which have over a thousand. I will deal with every parent legally when this is over I have a lawyer who will make you wish you never uttered my name, my daughter's name or my late wife. Time is running out and not fast enough.

I appreciate that someone feels that I wrote about the school but I am not interested in anything that the parasites who have come into Shuang Wen illegally have to say. The D.O.E. will remove you one by one and I don't have to say your names because you know who you are. It is good some of you are revealing your names so it will make it easier to identify yourselves are ringleaders in this fraud that has been perpetrated by you. Dr. Berat went to Yale by the way if you need to know where did you graduate from? I am so tired of being insulted, having my late wife insulted and the attacks that took place against my daughter; but I will let the law take care of you. My daughter can't wait for legal action to be in the other direction and all that you have posted will be brought into a court room. I have nothing against Chinese people, however I do have something against liars and those who would scam the system so their children can get advantages they are not entitled too. I now have a Chinese lady, and I am always in Chinatown helping with causes to help the people there. I don't see any of you parasites there except to have meetings at the school where my daughter goes on weekends. I don't know if you have been given the news but it seems Shaung Wen was always a District 1 school, so the only thing that I regret is that my daughter ever went to P.S. 184 because it makes me feel unclean to have taken a seat away from a child that should have been included in the school.
